Ladies Fashion Fix - April

Ladies Fashion Fix - April

Originally seen as a junior trend, flatforms gain popularity as a commercial mainstay. Ranging from stacked sneakers & slip-on’s in experimental designs & materials, to minimal, conservative lace up styles.

Hot off the catwalks, a key colour for Autumn is a dusty mermaid green, big for accessories & footwear. Seen in a subtle range of hues, ranging from chalky, pastel tones, to light & whimsical shades with a faded saturation.

Core menswear fabrics are reinterpreted for womenswear, as the classic hound’s-tooth print is zoomed in, abstracted, woven, enlarged & exaggerated.

The Runway came alive with interesting & fresh jewellery pieces. Pearls were seen everywhere, ranging from Givenchy’s facial pearls, Stella McCartney’s contorting pearl necklaces & Balenciaga’s twisted earrings. Other key pieces include oversized rings & earrings, minimal metal earrings & cuff’s, and chunky abstract earrings.

This season, the emphasis for bags is tactility & proportion. Ranging from soft to boxy & rigid. A key material for the season is recoloured animal skins, in mixed silhouettes with features such as front flaps, long shoulder straps, mini boxy bags & over-the-shoulder shoppers.

The tied-up belt is a key item for the season, adding a casual, carefree touch to outfits. Seen in varying widths & materials, from braided rope, to minimal clean leathers & ribbon, tied belts add a sense of understated luxury.

Facial jewellery evolves, from septum piercings & eyebrow rings, to nose rings, either as clip on hoops, to studs & hoops for actual piercings. Ranging from subtle & minimal, decorative & bejewelled, to even double piercings, this is seen as a key junior trend.

The metallic double-bridge frame is seen as an important detail in eyewear. Curved or straight metal bridge bars add material interest as well as provides a simple way to update seasonal eyewear classics.

Eclectic components made from plastic & resin offer an update to fashion jewellery. Moulded jelly-like synthetics, faceted perspex & geometric plastic shapes adorn fine metal fittings, replacing gems and crystals.
